Morgans Cove Foundation


Morgans Cove Foundation ,established in 2024, is a 501 (c) (3) under the Morgan Hill Community Foundation, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Morgan Hill, it's surrounding areas, and environs, to inspire a sense of community and pride.


Founded by Rich and Julie Firato


The foundation aims to accomplish the following;


  • Elevate community inspiration of Morgan Hill's rich history.
  • Establish a warm and friendly environment for future generations to learn and engage.
  • Embrace, educate, and showcase Morgan Hill's own unique treasure, Poppy Jasper.
  • Serve as one of Morgan's Cove "Must See" destination sites for community engaged activities and demonstrations.
  • Nurture and expand the importance of history to our community and youth through interactive outdoor learning activities.



Our community faces a lack of engaging learning opportunities that are provided outside of the classroom.

Research has shown that children who spend more time outdoors in nature, particularly at school, are more likely to participate in regular physical activity in their lifetime.


By providing a unique outdoor learning experience for the youth of our community, we can engage them in a way that promotes healthy learning.

"It's really kind of an honor to have it looked at it that way because we enjoy every day of every minute of every hour when we're here at the cove doing what we do," Owner Rich Firato said.

 Rich Firato has owned a family run commercial service company for the last thirty-five years. Yes, he really does have a Spanish Galleon in his front yard. His lifelong passion for the Golden Age of Pirates has led him to become the writer and producer of the documentary, The Pirates of Morgan’s Cove and his new book, Before the Hurricane, an adventurous tail of pirates, treasure and time travel.
